Version 5

Information about the most current version of TTNCF5

Status Information

TTNCF5 Version 5.2 is available.

Documentation for TTNCFGen and TTNCF5 is available.

TTNCF5 includes a tool for branding and locking your TTNCF5 distribution. This tool is called TTNCFGen.
With TTNCFGen you also make downloads of TTNCF5 components.
IMPORTANT: this tool requires online activation and the .NET Framwork on your desktop computer.
Download this documentation from  TTNCFCN - our customer network.

Status of TTNCF5

Tow Weeks after the release of the most current TomTom Navigator SDK (Version 5.21) we released TTNCF5 V 5.21 .

What has changed?

Some new functions are included in SDK 5. Except of them SDK 5 looks like SDk 2 - everything with "Rectangle and Itinerary" (the primary changes from SDK2 to SDK3) has been removed in SDK5.
But most of the functions offer now asynchronous calling.
This provides very new possibilities in development!

Licensing Information

New licensing, support and updates options.

You will see that our options are a mixture of the best points we could find with other models.
If you are familiar with other software models you will find "well known" things here.

The new way of updates.

Within  TTNCFCN - our customer network   you will get access to special shop links. So no more handling with "purchase codes" occurs.
You can also download updates directly from that site.
Fixes and minor changes will be available to all customers of the specific product.
When you have a subscription license you can also download "paid upgrades" there for free.

The new support options.

Support requests are handled via our forums.
So you take a look there if someone else has the same problem.
If yes - you will have an answer immediately. If not - you start a thread about your problem.
Good for you: you may get the answer before your even ask the question.
We will provide 2 levels of support:
  1. Standard support
    Access to public forums.
The difference to a "not supported user" is that you are allowed to create posts.
You can read and post in all forums - except the priority forums.
  2. Priority support
    Access to public forums.
PLUS: exclusive access to the priority forums.
Those forums we provide are "linked" to senior developers.
So when you create a post - it will generate an automated Email to our developers.
Further we provide access to "non release versions" of our software in the priority forums.
Normally we collect problems and feature wishes, implement (fix) them and after a certain timer (or number of changes) we provide a new release.
With priority support you can get the "inbetween versions" as soon as they are stable.

The new licensing models.

All our products are sold at a "per developer" license.
This means - one developer one license, two developers two licenses.... and so on.
Since this can become pretty expensive for larger companies we provide three packages.
Single developer / 3 developers and enterprise.
As you will see a 3 developer license is cheaper than 2 single developer licenses it is not a bad deal even if you have only tow developers.
Last not least is even the enterprise license cheaper than 2 single developer licenses.
So we think we made it easy for you to "stay on the legal way" and buy the proper licenses.
Watch out: - "bigger" licenses offer more support an update options.
All of those models are available either as "standard" or as "subscription".
Subscription means that you get (for a certain time) payed updates for free and you get rebates (at least 10%) when buying other products.
The following matrix shows the licensing options for TTNCF5.

FAQs about TTNCF5
I buy a subscription now and my subscription period ends before a new version is released.
Do I have to pay for this new version?
TTNCF5 subscriptions last untill you get a least one update.
So with a subscription you will get all updates within your periode for free - and you have the guarantee to get a least one update.
Will the new wrapper provide "backwards compatibility"? Definitly not! TTNCF5 will not work with versions of Navigator less than 5.
Will TTNCF or TTNCF 3 work with Navigator 5? There will be some basic functionality that can be used with Navigator 5 - but a some functions from TTNCF 3 will not work with Navigator 5.
What will be the update prices in the future? There will be no kind of "commona version updates" for TTNCF5.
With a subscription the updates will be for free. Without a subscription you have the buy the next version as a new product.
But there will always be two kinds of rebate.
One is "early bird" wich means 10% for normal and 15% rebate for subscription version. We offer "early bird" for one week after a new version is released.
The other rebate is subscription enhancement. Within 14 days after you subsription runs out you can buy another periode of your subscription for 50% of the regular price.
Do we have to buy TTNCF 3 and TTNCF5 if we want to support both (3 and 5) versions of the Navigator? We provide  TTNCF 3_5. This is an addon for TTNCF 5 which works with Navigator 3 AND Navigator 5.
Information about TTNCF3_5
How about support for the older versions? There will be forum support for TTNCF and TTNCF 3 .
TTNCF and TTNCF 3 are no longer under development. This means that there will be no further enhancements.
Microsoft released .NET 2.0 - will TTNCF run with it? The current release of TTNCF5 includes a special version for .NET 2.0. It includes also samples and enhancments specially designed for .NET 2.0.
